Project Log:  Friday, November 1, 2013

After final preparations, I spray-applied three coats of Alexseal high-build epoxy primer on the deck areas I'd prepared thus far:  the pilothouse, coachroof, cockpit coamings, and portions of the bulwarks.  I was pleased to finally move forward on the painting project, the ultimate completion of which would be a major landmark in the project.

My planned approach to the job, particularly the access to the areas in question, worked well in practice, and I was able to successfully reach all areas without getting into the wet paint myself.  Though this approach would necessarily draw out the overall length of time the paintwork was in progress, the areas to be worked on at any given time were manageable in size, making the job less daunting.  For me, doing always ended up being far easier than thinking.
